At the first meeting of the working group that will develop the National Counter Disinformation Strategy, EDMO Ireland coordinator Dr Eileen Culloty delivered a presentation on countering disinformation.
The first part of the presentation highlighted key challenges and contexts including how to define the scope of the problem; common misconceptions about public receptiveness to disinformation; and general observations about the nature, scale and time-frame of existing countermeasures.
The second part of the presentation focused on the topics highlighted by the Future of Media Commission to indicate the best-practices and challenges that are noted internationally as well as the Irish context in terms of the actors, skills, and resources available.
