As Ireland prepares for the presidential election on 24 October, EDMO Ireland is hosting an interactive workshop on elections and misinformation in Dún Laoghaire. The event takes place on Wednesday, 15 October in the Lab (Level 3) of the dlr LexIcon library. Register here.

The workshop will explore how voters are targeted by spin, persuasion, and manipulation during election campaigns. Using real-world examples — from viral memes to misleading headlines — participants will learn how to spot common tactics, sharpen their critical thinking skills, and reflect on how to make more informed choices about the information they consume.

The session forms part of EDMO Ireland’s ongoing media literacy work and coincides with the Be Election Smart campaign, first launched in 2024. It also builds on EDMO Ireland’s experience delivering talks and workshops to audiences across the country.

The workshop will be delivered by Aidan O’Brien and Eileen Culloty.
