Start with plain language and transparent methodologies"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dr Eileen Culloty of EDMO Ireland joined a panel at <a href=\"https:\/\/cybersecuritysummit.ie\/2026-agenda\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/cybersecuritysummit.ie\/2026-agenda\/\">Business Post Cyber Security Summit 2026<\/a><strong> <\/strong>in Dublin on 29 September. The event brought together industry leaders and experts to explore cyber threats, resilience, AI and regulation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Host Elaine Burke illustrated the confusion surrounding disinformation by asking the audience if they knew the difference between disinformation and misinformation. Most did not.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The panel, <strong><em>Defending Democracy in the Digital Age: Digital Sovereignty, Cybersecurity and Election Integrity<\/em><\/strong>, discussed how nations can strengthen digital sovereignty, safeguard critical infrastructure, and protect the integrity of elections in an increasingly complex threat landscape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Other speakers on the panel were:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Prof Hitesh Tewari<\/strong>, Assistant Professor and lead researcher Applied Cryptography Research Lab, Trinity College Dublin<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>David J. Hickton<\/strong>, Founder of Institute, Cyber Law, Policy, and Security, University of Pittsburgh<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Art O\u2019Leary<\/strong>, Chief Executive, An Coimisi\u00fan Toghch\u00e1in<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In her remarks, Dr Culloty highlighted the democratic need for stakeholders working on disinformation and election integrity to use plain language and transparent methodologies.
