EDMO Ireland&#8217;s Martina Chapman worked on the guidelines throughout 2024 as part of the EDMO Media Literacy Working group. EDMO Ireland is implementing these guidelines into its training programme for librarians. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bemediasmart.ie\/training\/\">Be Media Smart Training Programme<\/a><\/strong>: Media Literacy Ireland and EDMO Ireland have developed a Be Media Smart training programme with the aim of building a network of community-based trainers who can help individuals, communities, and institutions recognise and value reliable and accurate information in order to make informed decisions. It includes train-the-trainer sessions, community-based workshops, and online webinars. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/edmohub.ie\/index.php\/workshop-in-a-box\/\">Workshop in a Box<\/a><\/strong>: EDMO Ireland developed a Media Literacy Workshop in a Box resource that is free to use for anyone seeking to deliver media literacy training. The resource includes slides and detailed descriptions for trainers as well as resources and handouts. The Workshop in a Box was developed to support Media Literacy Ireland&#8217;s Be Media Smart Campaign and is being developed and adapted through collaborations with EDMO colleagues in Spain and Portugal. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/fujomedia.eu\/projects\/milcc\/\">MIL CC Training programme for librarians<\/a><\/strong>: A new EU-funded project is upskilling Europe\u2019s public librarians in media and information literacy (MIL). The initiative brings together partners across two EDMO hubs (EDMO Ireland and IBERIFIER). In Ireland, the project is supported by the Local Government Management Agency as part of its Skills for Life strategy. Read about the proposal <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rte.ie\/brainstorm\/2025\/0221\/1497415-public-libraries-librarians-media-literary-third-spaces-disinformation-conspiracy-theories\/\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/edmohub.ie\/index.php\/edmo-ireland-working-on-a-media-literacy-toolkit-for-third-level-students\/\">MTU Critical Media Literacy Training for undergraduates<\/a><\/strong>: EDMO Ireland is co-developing a national digital media literacy toolkit with Munster Technological University, led by Dr Catherine Palmer. The open-access resource will be offered to all MTU undergraduates and shared across the technological university network. EDMO\u2019s Dr Eileen Culloty is designing modules on critical media literacy, prebunking, and misinformation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading has-large-font-size\">Campaigns<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Be Online Smart 2025<\/strong>: The\u00a0<em>Be\u00a0Online\u00a0Smart<\/em>\u00a0pilot campaign aims to promote media literacy and empower citizens to identify accurate, reliable information. It also tests the capacity and coordination of EDMO hubs ahead of future large-scale initiatives. DCU is promoting the campaign as part of a DCU in the Community programme on media literacy in Ballymun library.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/edmohub.ie\/index.php\/be-election-smart\/\">Be Election Smart 2024<\/a><\/strong>: EDMO Ireland has a Be Election Smart campaign for General Election 2024. The campaign is supported by Media Literacy Ireland and Coimisi\u00fan na Me\u00e1n. It highlights practical tips to be mindful of when navigating news, commentary, and advertising about the election.&nbsp;The campaign tips are updated from the EU-wide campaign launched by EDMO during the 2024 European Elections. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bemediasmart.ie\/\">Be Media Smart (2019-2024)<\/a><\/strong>: The Be Media Smart campaign was first launched in March 2019 by Media Literacy Ireland (MLI), with support from a wide range of media, education, and technology partners. It was developed as part of Ireland\u2019s commitment to promoting media literacy and tackling misinformation through public awareness and education.
