Work on the strategy began in 2023, with EDMO Ireland invited to join the official working group. EDMO Ireland delivered an <a href=\"https:\/\/edmohub.ie\/index.php\/edmo-ireland-presentation-on-countering-disinformation\/\">introductory presentation on disinformation<\/a> at the group\u2019s first meeting, followed by a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.ie\/pdf\/?file=https:\/\/assets.gov.ie\/281129\/9da317bd-673a-4ccd-80ed-2bfbea9d3ba5.pdf#page=null\">joint presentation with Coimisi\u00fan na Me\u00e1n on the EU Code of Practice on Disinformation<\/a>. In the final strategy, <a href=\"https:\/\/edmohub.ie\/index.php\/government-publishes-national-strategy-to-tackle-disinformation-assigns-key-role-to-edmo-ireland\/\">EDMO Ireland is named as a lead or supporting lead on six actions<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Read the <a href=\"https:\/\/assets.gov.ie\/static\/documents\/20250416_National_Counter_Disinformation_Strategy_-_EN_-_Final.pdf\">full text<\/a> of the national strategy.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-large-font-size\">EU Code of Practice on Disinformation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">The EU&#8217;s Code of Practice on Disinformation is a self-regulatory framework to combat disinformation. When it was introduced in 2018, online platform and the advertising industry voluntarily committed to reporting on their efforts to address disinformation. In June 2022, the Code was strengthened to include more precise commitments and measures. In Spring 2025, it became a Code of Conduct. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">EDMO Ireland members have contributed to four studies of the Code. ElectCheck, CodeCheck, and COVIDCheck were funded by the Irish media regulator and undertaken by DCU FuJo. The <a href=\"https:\/\/edmohub.ie\/index.php\/major-platforms-disinformation-fight-under-scrutiny-in-new-cop-monitor-report\/\">CoP Monitor report<\/a> was a joint undertaking of EDMO Ireland and GADMO with support from the ADMO and BELUX hubs and two external universities. EDMO Ireland delivered a presentation, with Coimisi\u00fan na Me\u00e1n, on\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.ie\/pdf\/?file=https:\/\/assets.gov.ie\/281129\/9da317bd-673a-4ccd-80ed-2bfbea9d3ba5.pdf#page=null\">the Code of Practice on Disinformation for the National Counter Disinformation Strategy working group<\/a>.
